The Japan-America Society of Wyoming (JASWY) will present its fifth annual “Festival of Japan” from 12:00 noon to 4:30PM on Saturday October 9, 2010 in the cafeteria (from noon to 1:50PM) and in the auditorium (from 2;00-4;30 PM) of the Laramie High School (1275 N 11th St, Laramie - (307) 721-4420).
Admission is free
Performing on stage from 2:20 PM to 4:30 PM will be Bunraku (traditional Japanese puppet theater) from Missouri and Mirai Daiko, a taiko drumming group, from Denver.
The
exhibits in the cafeteria will feature interactive demonstrations of paper
folding (origami), ink brush writing (calligraphy), and use of chopsticks
(children can learn to pick up jelly beans with chopsticks).
We also sell some Japanese items and
Japanese food such as sushi,
crackers, Ampan (Japanese bread bean cake) etc.
